Silvia Canals, native of Barcelona, Spain, has attended several Dance, Jazz and Ballroom workshops for more than eight years. In Cuba, where he has lived since 2000, she studied Popular Dances in the Teatro América, and took several courses in the National Folkloric Company, as well as with the first dancer Julio Miñoso of the J.J. She worked in Barcelona teaching Dance Classes at the Juliá y Eva's School and has taught salsa classes and other Cuban dances in Havana for more than 15 years.
In 2000, she started private Salsa classes for foreigners in Havana, and then founded the academy La Casona del Son in 2011, of which she is the owner and teacher. In the school they teach, Salsa, Son, Rumba, Folklore, Cha-Cha-Cha, Rueda de Casino, Reggaeton, Bachata, Kizomba and Tango, and have Spanish classes.
Creator of the methodology of La Casa del Son, used by all teachers to teach the classes, winning the acceptance of their students.
In Havana she has participated in several events and festivals teaching and dancing in choreographies of Son Tradicional, Salsa, and Rueda de Casino. She is the organizer since 2016 of the International Festival of Cuban Dances in La Havana, Ritmo Cuba.
